We are getting used to the food - had curry twice already! We had a delicious breakfast of sweet Indian chai and puri aloo. Today the group divides into two with the Y12s heading out of Delhi to Uttar Pradesh to spend the morning teaching the children in the Riverside Free School and then on to Bhakera to see the Disha women's empowerment programme. It was an amazing day. The children loved singing the songs we taught them and the sound of 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' and 'The Wheels on the Bus' could be heard throughout the school. We were surprised by how good their English was and how eager they were to learn. As we arrived at the Women's Empowerment Project, news of our visit had spread and we were greeted by the whole village, including cows, goats and dogs. Although the women had no English, Sana came to the rescue and translated for us so that we could learn more about eachothers' lives. After lots of dancing and laughter, we made our way back to the bus, escorted and waved off by the entire village.
